Business Model for Teams

This is how you can see how your company really works and how every member contributes to its success

"The international bestseller *Business Model for Teams* shows how companies really work—and how every single team member actively contributes to success. After all, who wants to be just a cog in the machine? We want to understand and feel the meaning of our work! Tim Clark and Bruce Hazen demonstrate how leaders can use the Business Model Canvas to make it clear to every employee exactly how he or she contributes to business success—at the company, department, and team levels."

"Business Model for Teams" provides the much-needed tool for one of the most challenging leadership tasks of our time: coaching an autonomous team and guiding employees to work together toward shared corporate goals. This cultural shift from “I” to “we” is much easier to achieve when everyone involved shares a common vision—a solid foundation for reinvention, innovation, and transformation.

We are grateful and proud to be among the 225 experts from 38 countries who helped develop this book.

  • A new book in the successful Business Model series.
  • Clark and Hazen provide a compelling illustration of the connection between strategy (business model) and internal processes.
  • The goal of this book is to embed systems thinking at all levels of the organization—so that all departments and employees view and experience themselves as a single unit (“interdependent teamwork”).

"Business Model for Teams is a practical guide to modern leadership that helps companies rethink their structures and make them fit for the future."

Real-Time Innovation - Thinking in New Ways

"Imagine the world becoming a wonderful place—and it's all your fault..."

As co-authors, we have made this statement the guiding principle of our reflections on innovation processes. A look back at history shows that the most effective innovations have always emerged when social or environmental changes have triggered uncertainty, crises—or even a desire for something new.

We are convinced that innovation unleashes its true power when it actively shapes our future and offers hope for a world worth living in. Its primary purpose is not to generate short-term profits through technical innovations—but to create real added value and do good in the world. And that is more important today than ever before.

Our society faces challenges that can no longer be addressed using conventional ways of thinking and approaches to problem-solving. That is why we need new approaches—and a solid foundation for reinvention, innovation, and transformation.

The younger generation sees starting a business as an opportunity to realize their potential, their values, and their dreams. At the same time, rapid change—such as digitalization, automation, and globalization—is putting established companies under increasing pressure to develop new approaches to innovation in order to remain successful and sustainable in the long term.

The political sphere has also taken notice: Key decision-makers are seeking strategies to ensure competitiveness and shape the future through targeted support for innovation.

"At the same time, our understanding of innovation is constantly changing. It continues to evolve, adapts—and becomes a reflection of that change itself. Anyone who wants to be innovative today needs not only ideas, but also the courage to embrace change and a shared vision."

Methods and Quality in Entrepreneurship Education, Entrepreneurship Coaching, and Entrepreneurship Consulting

We are co-authors of a scholarly article in this anthology, which is dedicated to the overarching theme of “Quality in Startup Support.” The article focuses on key questions regarding the selection of appropriate methods for providing practical support to aspiring entrepreneurs—as well as aspects of assessment and evaluation. After all, quality is demonstrated by meeting requirements—yet these have not yet been uniformly defined in the field of startup support.

This anthology provides a solid foundation for reinvention, innovation, and transformation in startup support by presenting new perspectives and critically examining existing approaches.

"A total of 30 articles explore the topic from various perspectives. The volume brings together research-based, conceptual, evaluative, and practice- and experience-oriented articles. The content is divided into two main sections:

  • Part 1: Conceptual Foundations and Ideas for Further Developing Quality and Methods in Startup Support
  • Part 2: Entrepreneurship and Skills Development in Action—Methods, Approaches, and Experiences from Higher Education and Non-Higher Education Contexts

The book originated from the 3rd BIEM Symposium, which took place in Potsdam in June 2010 under the title “
: Methods in Entrepreneurship Education, Entrepreneurship Coaching, and Entrepreneurship Consulting—Interventions and Innovations.”

"This anthology makes an important contribution to the professionalization of startup support—and offers valuable insights to everyone working in this field for the further development of their work. It provides guidance in a dynamic environment and thus lays a solid foundation for forward-looking changes."

Managing Innovation in the Hotel and Restaurant Industry (Hospitality Industry)

"The hospitality industry of the early 21st century was characterized by rapid and, in some cases, sudden changes in the operating environment.

As hosts, we faced intense competition both nationally and internationally—confronted with rapid technological progress and ever-changing customer needs.

As travelers gained more experience, their expectations also rose. At the same time, new business models entered the market and quickly gained prominence.

For hoteliers and restaurant owners, it has therefore become essential to continually come up with innovative solutions to ensure the long-term viability of their businesses. Innovation has become a survival strategy—and a solid foundation for reinvention, innovation, and transformation in a dynamic industry.

  • But what exactly do we mean by innovation?
  • What triggers it?
  • Where does innovation begin—and is it ever truly complete?
  • What factors drive innovation?
  • How can innovation be systematized?
  • And how do you foster a culture of innovation within a company?

This book provides answers to these and many other questions.
It combines theoretical foundations with numerous practical examples and interviews—making it a valuable guide on the path to developing your own innovation strategy. In addition to exploring the potential for success, prerequisites, and methods for implementing sustainable ideas, it also highlights the paths taken by innovators who have already succeeded—serving as inspiration for your own journey.

"Experienced entrepreneurs, as well as service providers in the startup phase, will find solid support in this practical guide for planning, implementing, and evaluating their innovation activities. It offers guidance in a complex environment—and lays a solid foundation for sustainable change."

We are pleased to have contributed to this important book with the chapter “Successfully Implementing Ideas Through Professional Innovation Workshops.”
